Privacy Policy

Learn how Juunio collects, processes, and protects your personal information and academic study materials.

At Juunio ("Juunio", "we", "our", or "us"), we are deeply committed to protecting your personal privacy and maintaining transparency regarding how your data is handled. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, store, and safeguard your information when you interact with our website, Socratic AI mentor, automated study calendar generation systems, and associated educational features.

By accessing or using Juunio, you acknowledge and agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you have questions regarding our data practices, please reach out to us at support@juunio.com.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, as well as technical data necessary to operate and secure our services:

  • Account and Authentication Information: When you register an account, we collect your email address and password hash managed securely via Supabase Auth. If you authenticate using Google OAuth, we receive profile information authorized by your settings, including your email address, display name, and avatar image.
  • Study Materials and Uploaded Content: When you upload course syllabi, lecture notes, assignments, or PDF documents to create study roadmaps or generate practice quizzes, we store and process these files to deliver your requested service.
  • Conversation and Chat Logs: We store prompts, question responses, and conversation transcripts sent to our AI tutor to provide contextual memory, allow you to review previous study sessions, and continue active learning threads.
  • Technical and Device Data: We automatically log basic diagnostic information, including IP address, browser type, operating system, and general usage timestamps to detect security threats and ensure reliable service delivery.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal data and uploaded materials strictly for legitimate educational and operational purposes:

  • Generating interactive quiz questions, active recall exercises, and concept summaries.
  • Parsing course syllabi to construct personalized study roadmaps and calendar reminders.
  • Authenticating your user account and managing active login sessions.
  • Monitoring system performance, preventing abusive bot traffic, and enforcing account rate limits.
  • Processing subscription payments and billing transactions.
  • Communicating important account updates, security alerts, and customer support responses.

3. Third-Party Services and AI Processing

Juunio partners with established cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure providers to deliver its services:

  • Large Language Model (LLM) APIs: To generate AI responses, parse syllabi, and construct study schedules, user prompts and study text are transmitted via secure APIs to providers such as Google Generative AI (Gemini) and OpenAI. We utilize commercial API agreements where provider terms prohibit the use of API data to train public foundation models.
  • Database and Authentication Infrastructure: User authentication, database records, and chat history are managed through Supabase.
  • File and Media Storage: Uploaded syllabus PDFs and document attachments are stored securely using Cloudflare R2 object storage with encrypted endpoints and signed access controls.
  • Payment Processing: All subscription billing transactions are processed through authorized payment platforms (such as Polar or Stripe). Juunio does not store full credit card numbers or sensitive payment card data on its own servers.

4. Data Security and Protection

We implement robust administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration:

  • All data transferred between your browser and our servers is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS/SSL encryption.
  • Persistent data stored across our database and storage layers is protected by encryption-at-rest.
  • Access to production databases is strictly restricted to authorized systems through authenticated credentials and least-privilege security controls.

5. Data Retention and Storage Lifecycles

We retain your account information, chat conversations, and study materials for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you with seamless service. If you delete a specific chat session, document, or calendar event, it is promptly removed from our active database. If you delete your account, your user records, conversation history, and uploaded files are permanently purged from our production environments.

6. Cookies and Essential Session Tracking

Juunio does not utilize third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking trackers. We use only strictly necessary first-party session cookies (such as secure authentication cookies managed by Supabase) that are required to keep you securely authenticated while navigating between chat threads, study calendars, and account settings.

7. Your Rights and Data Deletion

Depending on your geographic location, you may have rights under applicable privacy legislation (including GDPR or CCPA), such as:

  • The right to access and review the personal information we hold about you.
  • The right to request the correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • The right to request the complete deletion of your account and associated study data.
  • The right to export your data in a portable electronic format.

You can exercise these rights directly within your account settings or by submitting a written request to support@juunio.com.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our platform functionality, security improvements, or regulatory updates. We will notify users of any substantial revisions by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
